Dale Sorrells was born and raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina and has lived all his life in different parts of WNC. Dale is married to Jan, and they have three grown daughters with nine grandchildren. Together Dale and Jan have camped and explored these mountains on horseback for many years. Dale is currently President of the Backcountry Horsemen of  North Carolina and takes an active role in the maintenance of horse trails in the Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Jan Sorrells is a avid trail rider, experienced stock packer and back country cook. She is currently Vice-President of Pisgah Trailblazers and and active member of the Back Country Horsemen of NC. She loves the outdoors and looks forward to every trip where she can share her appreciation and respect for our magnificant mountains with others.
